I ordered this shield with the knight costume, which all worked out great. Unfortunately, UPS crushed the box pretty badly, and the shield came out crushed. Surprisingly, I was able to straighten it out fairly well by heating it with my hair dryer! This is thin plastic, but not bad. It has a nice plastic strap handle attached to the back. It was a little ungainly when trick-or-treating, and not really necessary with the knight costume (I ended up carrying it for my son). However, you DO need a sword/scabbard to complete the look, in my opinion. The shield was much better than I expected from reading reviews. My son was very happy with it.

Sheild is made of thin plastic, so not good for rough play. However, it is colorful and realistic looking. Small strap on back was hard for child to grasp firmly, but he figured it out.
