Beastly Costumes

Beastly is the modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast and a variation of the 2007 book Beastly. The main character in the movie is Kyle Kingson, played by Alex Pettyfer. Kyle has looks, brains, money - and a bad attitude. He is a real bully who gets pleasure from mocking those he considers unattractive. His transformation occurs when he chooses the wrong girl to play a trick on. He singles out Kendra Hilferty which is unfortunate for him because Kendra turns out to be a witch who casts a spell on Kyle that turns him into an ugly beast. Disgusted with his appearance he learns that the only way to break the curse is to find someone who will love him as he is. Because of his ugliness, Kyle's father banishes him to a townhouse in Brooklyn. As Kyle ponders how to overcome the curse, he witnesses a drug addict murdering his dealer. Kyle promises the addict freedom and safety for his daughter, Linda Taylor if she will consent to live in Kyle's home. In doing so, Kyle begins to discover the true meaning of love. The relationship between Kyle and Linda is similar to the animated Beauty and the Beast but without the taking furniture and silverware.
