The 1950's was a fun time in our history. The world was enjoying peace brought about by the end of World War II, people were getting jobs and people were buying homes in record numbers. Along with the new found freedom and independence, people started to enjoy their creativity. With new rock and roll music becoming popular with performers such as Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and a host of groups gave music of the fifties a personality of its own. People in the fifties also had unique fashion trends such as leather jackets and poodle skirts. The fabulous fifties was also the decade where television started to become popular and performers such as Burns and Allen, Jack Benny and Howdy Doody would start appearing in people's homes. To help you learn more about the 1950's sit back and enjoy the following resources:
