Walt Disney was born in 1901. He attended Benton Grammar School, Missouri and from there, he moved to McKinley High school, Chicago. His love for arts propelled him to enroll for night lessons at the Chicago Institute of Art.

Walt Disney worked in studios as a commercial artist until 1923 when Walt Disney Company was officially opened in Los Angeles, California. The major work of Walt Disney was the cartoon, “Oswald the lucky rabbit”. This production did not very well meet his expectations, so he improved on it, changing the name of the new picture to Mickey Mouse. Walt Disney suffered cancer of the lungs for a very long time in his career. This eventually led to his death on December, 1966 (at the age of 65)

Oswald the rabbit: This was the first kind of Mickey Mouse. It was known for its long ears and tail. This program on TV did not meet the expectations of the producer. Hence, a change in name was strongly desired. This change in name was what resulted into Mickey Mouse. Mickey Mouse was slightly different in that it had large eyes.

Mortimer and the first Mickey Mouse.

Mortimer is sometimes referred to the man behind the success of Micky Mouse. After the rejection of Mortimer (as a name) to replace Oswald the rabbit by Walt Disneys wife, it was later used to become a major rival of Mickey Mouse. His first appearance was seen on his encounter between Mickey Mouse and his girl friend, Minnie. On the cartoon, “Mickey’s Rival”, Mortimer Mouse is seen to be a threat to the ongoing relationship between Mickey and Minnie just because he loved Minnie and wanted her affections.

Mickey’s change in Physical characteristics.

At first, Mickey had large eyes, a long tail, thin arms and legs and bare hands (hands without gloves). His complexion was black and he had a pear shaped body. Today, however, Mickey wears white gloves in his hands. His eyes and ears have remained large. Over the years, Mickey seems to have retained his clothing: red shorts, two buttons and large yellow shoes.

Mickey’s initial character was unappealing to most of his viewers. He was often mischievous and annoying. Today, Mickey Mouse is known to be more acceptable to most people for his heroic roles.

Mickey’s birthday

Mickey Mouse came into existence on November 18, 1928. His initial roles were playing pranks and being obnoxious. In an attempt to serve his audience more satisfactorily, Walt Disney heeded to the advice of his critics to change the role of Mickey Mouse to a character that people would enjoy.. This led to the change in role displayed by Mickey today as one that is truly loved by all. This suggestion was made because it became important to attract children to the programme so that they could learn several ethics.

Mickey in color

Mickey’s color has been represented as black. His long tail had been reduced owing to the fact that the animation cost had to be reduced. Mickey performs a lot of activities such as gambling, working hard, advising and being in charge. He is also bright, sociable and highly ambitious.

Mickey Today

Mickey Mouse is presently known for his charming abilities. He is humorous, honest and careful. Everybody likes Mickey. For instance, Children like the happiness he generates when they watch him while parents like him for the positive values (such as honesty and kindness) he impacts into their children.

Knowing what Mickey Mouse stands for is a great way of knowing how best to encourage its viewers and potential cartoon programmers. First, its production by Walt Disney is an act of perseverance, optimism and the ability to learn from other people. As long as there are needs of teaching children basic ethics and spending quality time with them, Mickey Mouse is an outstanding cartoon for viewers of all ages to watch, today and tomorrow.
