I have a 25 lb 1-year-old (big boy!) but definitely needed the size 2T that I ordered. So if your child is remotely on the bigger side, order up. Very cute costume. Very warm, I wouldn't recommend for warmer climates. The back is a little tough to get into. And, the trick to getting the head on is to put the arms in before putting the head up (this will make more sense when you do it).
