The science fiction and mystery genres have produced a number of outstanding writers in the past century. One of the most prolific and famous writers is Ray Bradbury. Bradbury has been an author that has produced some of the finest works in history.

Bradbury was born on August 22, 1920 in Waukegan, Illinois. Throughout his early years, Bradbury was an avid writer, spending most of his free time in the Waukegan Library. During his younger years, not only did Bradbury spend time reading, but also started to write on a regular basis. As a teenager, Bradbury and his family moved to Los Angeles, where he graduated high school in 1938.

Bradbury did not have money to attend college, so he began to write science fiction stories in 1938. He continued to write science fiction stories for magazines until 1947, when “Dark Carnival”, a collection of short stories became his first book.

Over the next several decades Bradbury wrote some of the finest science fiction, fantasy and mystery stories. Among the more notable works were novels such as The Martian Chronicles, Fahrenheit 451, Something Wicked This Way Comes and Death is a Lonely Business. In addition, Bradbury penned several short stories which were put together in collections such as The Illustrated Man, R is for Rocket, S is for Space and Long After Midnight.

Bradbury has been considered one of the masters of Science fiction and mystery, and his works have been used in other genres. His stories have been used in television on shows such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone and the Ray Bradbury Theater. Also, his work such as The Martian Chronicles, Something Wicked This Way Comes and It Came From Outer Space have all been made as movies.
