When it comes to picking out women's 60s costume, you have a wide selection to choose from. This is what makes it a great period to opt for.

Let's start from the bottom and work our way up. Footwear was a very important part of women's 60s costumes. It covered everything from Go-Go boots to platform shoes that were every disco's dance requirement. Tricky to dance in, they looked really cool on lighted floors. The higher the platform, the better. (Hey, look, they're back!)

Now, lets cover the bottoms, Mini skirts and dresses, as short as conscience would allow, was the key. These required a great deal of standing or an ability to not care what was seen when you sat down. The Go-Go Boots were most popular footwear with the mini skirts. Bell bottom trousers from small bells to "elephant" bells were mainly worn with the platform shoes. There were also maxi (almost floor length) skirts and coats. Warm over the minis.

The tops were usually tight, low cut sweaters, blouses with lots of ruffles and of course the controversial see-through tops. Bras began to be optional. You needed lots of gold chains and sparkly jewelry to look good and be noticed under those disco ball lights. If your 60s costume requires a belt, look for something in chains or sparkles. Have fun with it!
