Jack Frost may not be nipping at your nose, but it’s time to start off this year’s countdown to trimming trees. Today, June 25th, marks the halfway point to Christmas!

A different energy takes over when December hits, but why wait another six months to get into the spirit of the season? Even if you’re not ready to hand out presents, that doesn’t mean you can’t call out the season of joy by way of a Halfway to Christmas party.

In addition to hauling out the holly, here are five ways to embrace this festive period and to unwrap some seasonal fun that’s been given a summertime spin.

1)  You can start setting the scene for your upcoming celebration by diving into your stored supply of Christmas decorations and using what you already own. Simply create a picture perfect table for the occasion by putting out some solidly colored red and green tableware. Plus, you can dress up your front door in a special way by hanging up a drink umbrella wreath. Thanks to Design Improvised for this great idea!

2) Transform an ordinary summer party into a Christmas appropriate bash when you line the entrance to your home with pool noodles that look like candy canes! Just wrap white duct tape or weatherproof ribbon around some red pool noodles and you’ll have just what you need to create a seasonally appropriate pathway to welcome attendees as they approach your home for your event.

3) The sunshine makes it pretty unlikely that that you’ll be lucky enough to have a white Halfway-to-Christmas, but why should that mean you need to forgo a snowball fight? Bring the same action-packed fun that a snowstorm creates to any backyard BBQ by pulling out water balloons. You can opt to use white water balloons to make them look as though they’ve been constructed out of freshly fallen flakes, or you can strengthen the color scheme of your party using balloons that are red or green.

4) Once the sun sets, it’s time to light up the bonfire. At your shindig, instead of roasting chestnuts over that open fire, you can break out a bag of marshmallows and roast some to make s’mores.

Instead of opting for the traditional treat, finish off your night by putting one final Christmas twist on the delectable desserts by replacing your ordinary graham crackers with a gingerbread alternative (right).

‘Tis the season to have fun in the sun, but don’t let that stop you from celebrating the halfway point to December 25th. Start your countdown to Christmas the right way by throwing the ultimate warm weather-yuletide bash.
