Whether you prefer your holidays to include The Great Pumpkin or the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree, the Peanuts have likely played a large role in memories for 65 years. Now, with The Peanuts Movie slated to be released early next month, you’ll see Snoopy and the gang in a whole new light – A computer-animated light!
Before you see it, though, you should learn a little more about out Charlie Brown and his friends! Don’t worry; Costume SuperCenter can help!
Starting from the beginning, Charlie Brown is who you need to know. He’s been affectionately nicknamed The Lovable Loser, and his accomplishments include, but are not limited to, picking out terrible Christmas trees, unsuccessfully kicking footballs and coining the phrase “Good Grief.”
While working your way through the Brown family tree, Sally comes after Charlie. She’s his little sister, and is much more laid back than her elder sibling. She’s been known to use her bubbly personality and curly blonde hair in an attempt to slide through life, and it shows, as she struggles with her schoolwork in nearly every comic strip or TV special appearance.
Linus is the voice of reason in the life of the Charlie Brown. He spends most of his days trying to lessen Charlie’s anxieties, and is always the first to attempt to smooth over any grudges that come upon the Peanuts gang. If Linus is Charlie’s security blanket, Linus’ is his actual blanket. He carries it everywhere, and is often ridiculed for it by this next character.
Lucy Van Pelt is the older sister of Linus, and is solely responsible for the majority of bullying and sarcasm found in any Peanuts appearances. She’s been known to pull footballs away from Charlie Brown and ridicule her younger sibling on his need to carry a blanket everywhere he goes.
Like most birds (with the exception of some parrots), Woodstock doesn’t speak any English. The only member of the group that can understand him is his dog-pal Snoopy. Together, the two enjoy playing games and imagining fantastical scenarios, like pretending to be pilots.
What can be said about everybody’s favorite beagle that hasn’t already been said? We’ll leave this one to Charles Schulz, creator of The Peanuts, who once noted, “Snoopy’s whole personality is a little bittersweet. But he’s a very strong character. He can win or lose, be a disaster, a hero, or anything, and yet it all works out. I like the fact that when he’s in real trouble, he can retreat into a fantasy and thereby escape.”
Sounds about right.
On November 6, 2015, everybody’s favorite beagle takes to the skies to meet his imaginary rival, the Red Baron. Until then, you can use Costume SuperCenter for help in making your dog as stylish as these two pilots with paws! Our wide variety of pet costumes makes it easy!
