Tooth Fairy is Costume of the Week

This week, the new movie Tooth Fairy was released. Tooth Fairy stars Dwayne Johnson as minor league hockey player Derek Thompson who is aptly named “The Tooth Fairy” because of his reputation for knocking out the teeth of opposing players when he checks them against the boards.  “The Tooth Fairy” gets into trouble when he breaks the heart of 6 year old Tess by telling her there is no such thing as the Tooth Fairy. This is witnessed by the Fairy Godmother who summons him to The Department of the Dissemination of Disbelief to serve one week in the Tooth Fairy Army.  The rough and tough hockey player is forced to comply. As retribution, he must not only take on all of the duties and responsibilities of the Tooth Fairy but he must also dress the part, complete with a tutu, wand and fairy wings.

With his Tooth Fairy costume and a few flying lessons he is sent to collect teeth. As you can imagine there are funny mishaps and lessons to be learned in the process.  It’s an imaginative movie that is surprising good. It reinforces a kid’s belief in childhood mythology and worth seeing if you have a child on the fence about belief in the Tooth Fairy.  For us grown ups, it’s humorous an appealing to see “The Rock” in a ballerina style Tooth Fairy costume.

There is no official costume for the movie but there is a funny Tooth Fairy costume for sale at Costume Supercenter for only $34.99 that includes a top, shorts, tulle skirt, wings and a headpiece. If you choose, you could also buy a pink or blue ballerina costume or fairy costume with wings and come up with a creative way to make it “toothy.”
