T-Rex Costume Ideas

Among all species that have walked the earth, there is one king to rule them all - the Tyrannosaurus Rex.  The T-Rex is arguably the most popular dinosaur of all time and a staple of the Jurassic World franchise, appearing in almost every movie since it debuted in the 90s. They're also the most fearsome predator of all time in terms of size, power, and speed.  Of all the carnivorous dinosaurs to have existed, the Tyrannosaurus Rex has had the most complete fossil collection, allowing paleontologists the luxury of recreating the most iconic predator of all time.

That prestige has only led to popularity and recognition throughout pop culture.  If you were to ask anyone to name a single dinosaur, the T-Rex would be most people's first choice.  That iconography has led to a bevy of great costumes for Halloween, as kids everywhere love pretending to recreate the ferocious roar heard in the Jurassic World movies.  The T-Rex stands tall among his peers, even as new predators have been uncovered that are either larger or more efficient killers. But nobody tops the king, and the T-Rex will continue to stalk our imagination and hearts for years to come.

The Jurassic World T-Rex costumes will be wildly popular this Halloween because of the upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom movie set to debut in late June, starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard!  The T-Rex will be featured prominently in one of the film's crucial scenes, as he was depicted triumphant over a rival and roaring into the distance.  In later trailers the T-Rex is also seen roaring at a lion in a zoo, face to face with our generation's most fearsome predator!  Be prepared to see your kids roar when they put these costumes on so make sure you get ready to order early!

Types of T-Rex Costumes

Indominous Rex

The Indominous Rex was a hybrid creation that debuted as the primary antagonist in the 2015 Jurassic World film which featured Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.  The Indominous Rex was a Frankenstein-like monstrosity that had genetic attributes of the Tyrannosaurus Rex, the velociraptor, the cuttlefish, snake, and frog.  Each attribute contributed to the dinosaur's deadly array of abilities, making it a formidable foe for our heroes, as it caused chaos within the park and also killed dinosaurs for sport.  This murderous dinosaur will definitely be a popular choice for kids that have seen the movie and feel like being the baddest dino around.

Inflatable T-Rex

Inflatable T-Rex costumes are all the rage nowadays.  They're a funny sight to behold and they're still truthful to the fearsome image of the king of all dinosaurs!  Part of what makes a costume great is its faithfulness to the source and the level of humor it can bring.  Inflatable costumes are always a hoot because of how grotesque the proportions of the costume can be - made more so with the T-Rex's tiny arms, one of biology's weirdest gaffes.  Get your Inflatable T-Rex costume this Halloween and don't miss out on the fun!

T-Rex Mask

T-Rex Masks are a great substitute for a full-blown dinosaur costume.  This accessory recreates the T-Rex's famous mug, and it's easy to put on and wear!  During Halloween, it may be too pricey to get a full costume.  Sometimes a DIY costume is the way to go, especially when it comes to the king of all dinosaurs.  With this in mind, consider the T-Rex Mask as a suitable approach for a kid (or an adult) to be creative with the rest of his or her costume!  The only thing not included here is your best T-Rex roar!  Unleash it this Halloween!

Rubies T-Rex Inflatable Costume

Rubies T-Rex Inflatable Costume was the Winner of the Toy of the Year Award for a good reason - it's a fantastic blend of hilarious and practical costume design.  The mesh inlay at the T-Rex's throat allows a person to see clearly, and the T-Rex's short little arms will wobble all about.  It's a costume that mixes the best parts about Halloween - the mix of true devotion to a subject and humor.  Sometimes getting a costume modeled after a vicious predator can come off as too gritty or edgy.  What truly makes a costume terrific is the blend of comedy with a subject that demands complete awe and trembling respect!

Learn More About T-Rex

Despite its tremendous look and vicious nature, the Tyrannosaurus Rex still has a few mysteries that baffle paleontologists.  For instance, was the majority of its body simply covered in reptilian skin or did it also have feathers like some of its closer relatives supposedly had?  Did you also know that the T-Rex was incorrectly drawn in the 19th century as standing upright much like a kangaroo?  Thanks to the further work of paleontologists, it was discovered that such a posture would be impossible for the creature to assume without critical muscle failure - the Jurassic Park franchise actually nailed down a faithful recreation of what the creature must have looked like with its hunched over posture!

The T-Rex also had superior sight, better than some hawk species, but it hunted using its superior sense of smell.  In fact, the T-Rex might have been more of a scavenger than an outright predator!  Its speed is still a subject of debate among scientists, but its thighs and calves were incredibly muscular so that it could support its weight, leading some to believe that the legendary creature could also have been a high-powered locomotive.  Lastly, one of the most striking features about the king of all dinosaurs was its rows of serrated teeth, with the largest tooth recorded at twelve inches long.
