Great Services / Horrible Costume
I purchased this costume with the intent of taking it with me to a convention.
The service was exceptional - quick shipping, easy to order.
However, the suit itself is utter garbage. This isn't something you can go walking around in.
First, the helmet is akin to sitting a bowl on your head. There's nothing to adjust it to fit your head, nor strap it on. A simple chin strap would have help out tremendously, but you don't even get that. It's honestly just a formed piece of plastic, sans padding or webbing. Not to mention you can't see out of it very well.
As for the body suit, that fit rather well. Unfortunately, you do need assistance to put it on. Having said that, the designer didn't take into account going to the bathroom - there's no easy access for this. So whomever you choose to help you suit up, should also double on bathroom detail.
The 'armor' pieces are merely thin plastic. They kind of make you fear they're going to break on you as you move around. To compound the matter, the pieces do not stay in place very well. The design incorporates pieces of Velcro stitched into the suit - you slap on the armor piece on corresponding piece of Velcro. Problem is, the piece might not "ride" exactly where you would like for it to. So even if you order a suit that will "fit" you, there's only a small range where the armor will actually line up the way that it should.
Take that along with weight of some pieces - not that it's heavy for the wearer (that's light), but the connection between armor and body suit is a piece of Velcro. Sudden jarring or quick movement will surely cause a piece to come off.
I can't see someone wearing this as a costume and expecting to move, nor can I see someone wearing it for an extended period of time. It seems it was more the less designed for a photoshoot, or for you display in the corner of your nerd cave. It looks amazing, don't get me wrong, but it has no functionality as a suit of armor whatsoever. You just can barely wear it provided you get the pieces to sit right where they need to; you must have a dedicated "armor bearer/ bathroom attendant"; you will need to purchase webbing for the helmet even if you plan on standing still for the entire duration you wear the suit; and lastly, you will need your own boots.
All in all, horrible suit for wear/play, but would go great on a mannequin in your basement.
I returned the suit to costumesupercenter. Free shipping, and refunded without question. The store is great; the suit just doesn't cut it.
