Dead Men Tell No Tales…

…at least that’s what the latest of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies will tell you. If you’d been listening closely enough, though, Disney has been trying to get that message across for years and years.

Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most successful film franchises of all time, but it was a theme park attraction first. Before Jack Sparrow was running from the likes of the terrifying Armando Salazar, Captain Barbossa shot “cannonballs” over the heads of all who sailed through, the “Pooped Pirate” drunkenly waved a treasure map, and a small dog, just out of the reach of prisoners, held the key to their escape from fire in his teeth.

While the ride itself is loved by all who take a seat in the ships, the history behind the attraction and the rumors surrounding the seas have long been known to hold the attention of park attendees and staffers, alike. With Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales slated for a May 26, 2017 release, Costume SuperCenter has decided to take a look at some of the more interesting history about the Caribbean adventures that can be had in Anaheim and Orlando, among other cities. From a list of truths and myths, to your very own treasure map through the attraction, this infographic has everything you need to know about the origin of a pirate’s life.
